Easter Basket Blog Hop

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Over at [the.good.life], Darci is hosting an Easter Basket Blog Hop.
Here is Enzo's first Easter basket and details of what is in it:
Everything came from Target, even his basket which I had embroidered.
1) Easter Bib from the $1 section
2) 3 books from the $1 section
3) Bubbles
4) Happy Baby Yogurt Bites in Strawberry
5) Baby Orajel toothpaste and toothbrush, so we can start taking care of those two little bottom teeth!
6) Rubber Baseball from the $1 section
7) Circo tub treads (Thought these might come in handy as Enzo gets more wiggly in the tub)

Here is Enzo already enjoying the Easter eggs :)

Tracking Enzo's Growth

Monday, March 25, 2013

I have fond memories of my mother marking my height on the door jam of where she worked.  It was so fun to look at where I was at a certain age.  When we moved, it was sad that we couldn't continue that in the same door jam.

I had seen a lot of pins on Pinterest on how to make your own growth ruler.  I had every intention to make one.  Every intention....  Which Matt's family coming in town for Easter I desperately wanted to get it done.  Then I saw some on Etsy.  For me, the price was right and I went ahead and purchased one.

You can find this exact ruler by GraceWordsbyMelanie on Etsy.

I think for the amount, it was so worth it for me.  It saved me time, quality is better than I probably could have done and it probably would have cost me the same in the end.

I got it in the mail last week and we hung it up this weekend.  It is just as I wanted!  I love it!

I can't wait to chart Enzo's growth and his future siblings.

Our Weekend

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

A little late posting this, but here are some pics from our weekend.
Still trying to get a picture of me and Enzo that I love.  I have yet to find one that he is looking, not to mention smiling, and I am happy with my fat self (still trying to loose the baby weight).
Friday night, Matt had plans with the guys to go to the Car Show, so my mom came over and hung out with me and Enzo for a little bit.  Gave me some help so that I could make some more baby food.  This is Enzo eating some chicken soup :).  He loves to bite the spoon now that he has his bottom teeth.

Saturday morning Moxie had a 7am grooming appointment, so I loaded up the boy and we dropped off Moxie and were home in time to watch the sunrise together.  Such a perfect morning.

It was 80 degrees for us here in Texas and we were soaking up the sun!

We had an engagement party on Saturday and Enzo did really well.  On the way home, he crashed.  Such a good babe.

Sunday we cleaned up, here is my little helper...

We have finally finished our mudroom, another post another day....

Wearing green for St. Patrick's Day!  Lots of kisses for this boy, no shirt needed :)
Sunday evening my bestest friend Lauren, who lives in San Antonio came over with her crew.  She has a 5 yr old daughter and twin girls that will be 2 in May.  One of the twins is our godchild, Enzo is Lauren's...  Love that.

Hope yall had a great weekend!

An Amazing Gift of Many Future Fun-Filled Memories

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

I will try and not make this too wordy.  I babysat for this amazing family for 10+ years.  Kate, their first-born was just a few months old when I started watching her.  She was the best baby I had ever had.  She was so verbal and so expressive.  Her mom, Elizabeth was/is an amazing mom and had everything fool proof for me.  She made an easy/fun job even easier!  My love of photography really starting with photographing Kate.  Who doesn't love babies?!?!

Here is a picture of Kate that I took and have always loved.  Her eyes were always killer.

About 3 or so years later, came Will.  The little brother with the same killer eyes.  They were the perfect pair and a blast to be with.

Here is a favorite that I took of Will about the same age of Kate above.
As I am writing this post, I feel like I could go on and on with the funny and very memorable memories I have had and will always cherish, but I will try to get to the point.
But first, just one more mention....
When Matt and I got engaged, I knew the perfect flower girl and ring bearer :)  Here is a picture from our wedding.
So, Kate and Will are much older now.  Kate will soon be 13!  Teenager!  My oh my.
As they are now older, they don't use their wooden playset anymore, so their mom asked me if we wanted it for Enzo and his future sibling(s).  Of course we did!

Several months later, we have finished installing it securely in our backyard, re-staining it, adding a slide and little swing for Enzo.

Enzo loves his swing!
Not the best picture (Enzo's face is blurry) but he is one proud babe.
Just this weekend, I found a note from Kate and Will's family, after 3 or so months in our backyard, I am just seeing this.  It brought me to tears.
I so look forward to many many years of Enzo and future babies playing on this playset.  It has been well-loved by a family that we very much love.

Thank you dearly, Fuller Family.  We love you guys very much!

Our Weekend

Monday, March 11, 2013

This weekend was so nice spending it together as a family.  We did lots of projects around the house that were much needed.  The list isn't completed yet, but in due time.

Here are some pics from our weekend:

As mentioned in my previous post, we met some friends for dinner at Pappadeaux's Friday night.

Enzo did really good, as usual.
Enzo apparently slept really hard at nap time because he woke up with crazy hair!

We spent a lot of time at home, playing and laughing.

We upgraded our washer and dryer and the new set was delivered on Saturday morning.  Enzo loves them! :)

I washed and put away all of Enzo's little baby things.  He is growing way too fast.  Here is a picture of his swings and bouncer that he won't sit in anymore.  Very sad for me to see them go up in the attic.

There is that crazy hair again!

Sunday night was a very cold night, so it was the perfect excuse for one last fire.
As I mentioned earlier, Enzo is growing way too fast.  He has been upgraded to sitting in the tub all my himself.  So big!
Hope you all had a great weekend!

Surviving a Restaurant with a Baby

Friday, March 8, 2013

Matt, Enzo and I are going to dinner tonight with a group of friends.  We are going to Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen, which is a nice restaurant and not so kid-friendly.

I am very sensitive to the fact that people go to dinner to enjoy themselves and I never want our kid to be "that kid" that ruins someone's time.

I think one of the best things we can do for Enzo is to include him in dinners out, etc.  We want him to be flexible, patient, and self-entertaining.  We have made a point to not let Enzo be the reason we never go out (dinner, etc.).  Obviously there are some times, but not all the time. (Enzo was colic for two months, so we were certainly more confined to the house at this time).

As I was preparing for tonight's dinner, it made me think this might be useful for others.  So, here is my survival guide to having dinner at a restaurant with a baby:

  1. Come Prepared
    1. Make sure you have all the items you will need baby's dinner, bib, spoon, diapers/wipes, and plenty of toys.
  2. Change of Scenery
    1. When we get seated at the table, I never put Enzo in the highchair immediately.  It is the perfect time to let people get snuggles in, etc before food is on the table.
    2. Once appetizers come out, I put Enzo in the highchair.
    3. Dessert/Coffee time is another good time to let him get back out and be passed around.
  3. Slow and Steady
    1. I never introduce all the toys at once.  One at a time, as he gets bored.
    2. If your child is like Enzo, he will want to play with everything but his toys.  If this is the case, look for items he can play with on the table (sugar packets, etc).
    3. Attach the toys to the highchair.  This will save you from picking them off the dirty floor 20 times.
    4. I have a few toys that I keep in the car, just for dinner.  So, Enzo doesn't play with these toys on a daily basis which I think also helps to keep his focus.
  4. Pace Him/Her
    1. I feed Enzo very slowly to make it last as it is a great time filler.
    2. Puffs are great finger foods that take time.
  5. Baby needs a Clean Diaper
    1. Changing his/her diaper is quite the field trip for your little one.
    2. Take your time and make it fun; look at things on your way to the bathroom, etc
Let me know if you have any suggestions/comments!

Here is Enzo the other night at Cheddar's.

Enzo's Monthly Favs - 7 Months

Thursday, March 7, 2013

Around 7 months, we introduced puffs to Enzo.  He got the hang of them very quickly!

He loves them!  We have to be careful and not introduce them too soon into the meal or he will just want to eat those.

At almost 8 months now, he is getting very good at picking them up and feeding himself.  So fun to watch!

We have tried two different brands:

(1) Happy Baby Organic

(2) Gerber Graduates

Coming Home Memories - A Shadowbox Project

Monday, March 4, 2013

I saw this idea on Pinterest and wanted to re-create with Enzo's coming home outfit.

I got the shadowbox from Michael's.  And the footprint mold set was from BuyBuyBaby.  This mold has been my favorite so far because it isn't messy.  I put a little baby powder on Enzo's foot, pressed and then let the mold dry.  Easy!

My mom got Enzo's coming home outfit, it is an adorable Carter's set with some matching booties.  So amazing to look at now because he was even smaller than this!  The outfit was big on him, even though it was newborn size.

I chose to add Enzo's baby announcement in the shadowbox, as well.

Here is a picture of the final project, which is hanging in our hallway.

This was Enzo all ready to go from the hospital in his little outfit!
He was so tiny!  They grow so fast, it is so crazy!  The shoes were so huge on him.
